The team kicked off their 2012 racing season with a FSAE shootout with other teams at the Mosport International Raceway Driver Development Track. It was a great experience for the team, especially to all the new members who joined the team this year. Thank you to everyone who participated in the event and our sponsors who made this possible.
Our new steel stubshafts have been completed and are slated to be installed in the car later this afternoon.
Many thanks again to Baumeier for CNC machining these complex parts for us and to Bodycote for the heat treating (shiny blue finish!). Both are companies with locations in Waterloo, ON and have been great supporters of our racing team. We are looking forward to continuing our working relationship with both of these companies as the story for the 2012 season begins to evolve.
Waterloo has excitingly recieved a new GoPro Motorsports HERO camera. Many thanks to a local individual donar, Laurie Peloquin ,,, for donating the camera to the team.
The team has plans to use the camera for driver development, tuning and promotional purposes throughout the exciting 2012 season and following years.
The staff at the Watkins Glen has generously extended an offer host the entire UW Formula Motorsports team for an event at their race track. We have graciously accepted and will be bringing around 9 members of the team to the event despite the presence of exams occurring until the 13th of this month.
This event will give those attending the opportunity to go and see the Heluva Good! Sour Cream Dips NASCAR weekend at The Glen from August 11-14th. They are providing credentials to the entire weekend as well as camping spots for the team.
Many thanks to Watkins Glenn for their generosity in sponsoring the team to see this event. More to come on the event itself after the 14th.
